SSH Telnet
What precisely is SSH? How do you control a server via SSH?
Secure Shell, also known as SSH, is a cryptographic network protocol that is used to execute commands on a remote machine or to exchange information between a web server and a client. Because the data exchanged by the 2 sides is encrypted, a third party can't intercept it, which makes SSH an ideal means of controlling a web hosting account. The commands which can be executed are determined by the type of hosting service. On a shared server, for example, the choices are limited since you'll not have root access to the hosting server, so you could simply create/move/delete files, create and unpack archives, import and export databases, etc. They're all actions which are carried out inside the shared hosting account and do not need a higher level of access. Using a virtual or a dedicated server, you will have the ability to install server-side software or to restart the web server or just a specific service (web server, database server, etc.). SSH commands are submitted through a command line, but if you don't use a UNIX-like OS, there are plenty of apps for other OSs, that you can use to connect to the remote web server as well.

SSH access is featured with all
Linux cloud web hosting that we offer. With some of them, it's offered as standard, while with others it is an optional upgrade you can include with several clicks from your website hosting CP. You may get SSH access through the section dedicated to it in which you will also find the info which you need to connect - the host, the port number and the username. You may pick the password which you shall use and, if necessary, you'll be able to change it with a few mouse clicks from the same place. All of the commands which could be used with our shared packages are listed inside a help article along with relevant examples. If the SSH access function is permitted for your account, you shall also be able to upload files through your preferred FTP client via an SFTP connection.

SSH Telnet in Semi-dedicated Servers
SSH access is available as standard with some of our
semi-dedicated server packages, while with others you will be able to include it from the hosting CP if necessary - even only for the current month. In any case, you'll be able to activate and de-activate the function with only one click via the SSH section of the Control Panel. In the same spot, you'll see the server name, the port number and the username needed to connect to our platform. You will also find a box where you can type the password that you'd like to use, as it doesn't have to be the same as the one you use to log into the CP. For better security, you could also change it as frequently as you want. A complete list of the commands which can be executed inside a semi-dedicated account is supplied in our Knowledge Base, alongside the syntax and several instances. An extra function after SSH access is enabled shall be the ability to connect to your hosting space via SFTP using any FTP client which supports this sort of connections.

SSH Telnet in VPS Servers
You'll be able to use SSH to control your content regardless of which
VPS servers you choose when you sign up, because all our plans come with this feature by default. You'll not need to add or activate anything manually - immediately after your server is ready and you get the Welcome e mail with the login information, you'll be able to connect and start working on your Internet sites or any software which you want to install and run on the web server. You shall have root-level access to the VPS and since the account will be isolated from all of the other accounts within the physical web server, you will be able to do anything you want without any restrictions. You may install any app which you need and which will work on a Linux-based server, restart any software server (web, database, game, media, etc.) and work with your files and databases quickly and easily.
